Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is an injectable treatment that can be used to eliminate unsightly veins and superficial telangiectasias ("spider veins") on the body.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
A clear solution called a sclerosing agent is injected into the veins. This solution causes the inner wall of the blood vessel to become sticky and swollen, shutting it down. With the treated vein closed, local circulation is improved.
When will I see results?
The clinical effect first appears within 6-8 weeks after treatment. A series of Sclerotherapy treatments is generally recommended for optimal results.
Is there a recovery period?
Bruising or darkened veins are common after treatment and will resolve over time.
Who performs the treatment?
Dr. Tina Alster and Dr. Nina Hartman (Board-Certified Dermatologists).
